Weekend Pull #32: Watery Strips
A long, long time ago in a sewing room far away, I made a Scrappy Trip Around the World quilt inspired by an antique ocean waves block I had gotten from eBay. I had decided to tie every intersection on that quilt and it took FOREVER to finish. But once I did I loved it so much I immediately decided to make two more, one for each child. I cut the strips and everything. Mossy green for Sam and Glowy warm colors for Riley.
Of course other projects caught my attention and the strips got set aside and then eventually relegated to the UFO bins (aka “bins of shame”). But I’ve been feeling like it’s time to get the UFO bin cleaned out and I am really loving those green and blue fabrics. Instead of a scrappy trip I have a new idea, one inspired by the amazing quilting community on Instagram.
Instagram is pretty amazing for seeing all of the beautiful things people are making, and today I was really struck by this super fun quilt top from Ashley @filminthefridge and this clever offset setting from from Anna @domesticjoy and the gears have officially started turning. (Both Ashley and Anna have graciously given me permission to share my take on their projects. Thank you, ladies!)
More soon, but for now, here’s another look at my new stack of strips. I think I’m in love.
